Imagination

I was lucky enough this past week to explore the beautiful region of southern Utah. I'd seen parts of it before, but not nearly to the extent of this trip. Words cannot express the beauty and awe-inspiring sights with every turn of the road and/or trail. If you haven't done so, put it on your bucket list. Include it right there next to the Grand Canyon or give it its very own well-earned spot.

Along with voracious reading, I believe travel is a superb way to nudge our creativity, and kick writer's block on its proverbial butt! It gets us mousy writers out of our "holes" and broadens our vision. And at the same time, roots us to our source--the deepest well of possibilites. I didn't write on this vacation, but what I did do was think...and let my imagination run wild.

I don't think you have to go too far or spend a whole lot of money on a trip to get this sort of inspiration, but I do think exploring somewhere new piques our natural curiosity and freshens our imaginations.

So take a drive, a walk, or even a swim, anywhere that causes you to wonder what lies beyond the next bend...

  1. Wait til you see how the Castle gets your adrenaline going . . . unless the ghosties are on their best behavior.

  3. Wow. Gorgeous. I've always loved the National Monuments in Utah. Amazing structures. Absolutely awe-arousing. It's on my bucket list to travel out there myself someday. I'd love to see Zion and Yosemite as well.

  5. I agree. If I sit and stare at these walls too long, yikes! Glad you were able to see something majestic. Shall we head to the ocean again? John thinks you and the ocean are my cure!
