In the heart of Mother’s Day, I am posting in honor of my
kids. Well, you can’t really call them “kids” anymore (one is well passed adult
age and the other is cruising upon it), but they will forever be my babies.
Motherhood is by far the most wonderful, intense, frustrating, joyous
experience of my life, starting for me when I was barely out of kid-dome
myself. Being wife and mother all these years has me a little nervous as I
approach the next phase of life when my independent sons don’t need Mom so much
anymore. Then I remind myself: they just don’t need Mom in the same way. They don’t
need me to remind them to brush their teeth or go to bed or be their chauffeur,
but they still need my votes of confidence, my “I love you infinity’s”, and my
swift kicks in their proverbial butts when they’ve momentarily lost their marbles,
because Mom is still older and wiser and loves them more than anyone else in
the world possibly could (okay, except maybe Dad ;-)).
So, to my oldest boy, fair as the sun, strong as a bull, kindhearted,
and lovable as a puppy, I’m oh-so proud of you. You are my light, my heart.
And to my youngest boy, a mirror of myself, gentle spirited,
unique, and laugh-out-loud funny, I’m oh-so proud of you. You are my light, my
heart.
I am blessed and forever grateful for you both.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE MOTHERS, GRANDMOTHERS, GODMOTHERS, AUNTIES, CARETAKERS, OR ANYONE WHO HAS LOVED A CHILD!
Happy Mother's Day my friend!
ReplyDeleteI'm late reading this--but I'm sure your boys tweeted and shared this with all their friends! ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree and understand, and you are a wonderful mother for being active in their lives. It takes our presence at every age! It's hard work, but so rewarding. Love you. Blessings!~Susan
