Novel Contest Rundown

This post is a preview of what I will be routinely updating on my Events page. All contests are for NOVELS, and listings are geared toward those that accept Young Adult Novels. I can attest to contests providing great feedback, adding to your bio, and giving that ever-appreciated validation we writers seek. Aside from monetary gain, prizes can include critiques from literary agents, editors, and/or other writing professionals; an excerpt of your "award-winning" ms published by contest host(s); lifetime bragging rights; and the best prize of all--a full publishing contract. Some contests are free, others have minimal cost (I'd be watchful of those charging more than $50).

And always, always, always read the rules and fine print carefully before submitting.

  1. It looks like you've been putting some work into your blog; I like it! Are you sure you don't want to save that energy for a group blog, though? Say yes!

  2. Thanks for the update about the various contests. Can you remind us of the fabulous contest of which you placed in the top 50. I need more details! I read somewhere that perhaps self-published novels CAN enter! I'd love to see a link to that for 2012!! We are living proof that entering contests do pay off :)

  3. Angelica: I'd be happy to double post to two blogs :-))

Susan: Yes, the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest, which hasn't posted any info. yet for 2012. Typically the contest starts in January. I will add to my list asap ;-))
